Electric starter 12 V / 2.0 kW for HDE 15000EA3, HDE 15000SA3, and HDE 18000SA3 diesel generators. Provides electric engine starting from the onboard battery. Replacement for a worn or non-functional starter.

The starter is a motor that briefly turns the crankshaft at the speed required for the engine to start. In diesel generators, it must be capable of cranking the engine against higher compression than in spark-ignition engines, making it a more demanding component in terms of both power and mechanical load than is typical for petrol-powered machines.

  • The starter has an output of 2.0 kW at 12 V and an eleven-tooth pinion that engages with the flywheel ring gear. It is equipped with an electromagnetic relay (solenoid) mounted directly on the starter body, which engages the pinion and simultaneously closes the main power circuit when activated.

Starter motor for HDE 15000EA3, HDE 15000SA3 and HDE 18000SA3 diesel generators

WHY CUSTOMERS CHOOSE IT

  • 2.0 kW output - powerful enough to crank even a larger twin-cylinder diesel engine
  • Eleven-tooth pinion with solenoid mounted directly on the starter body
  • Replacement for a worn starter - a common reason why a diesel generator stops responding to the start command

PRACTICAL TIP

Before installing a new starter, check the condition and voltage of the battery and the tightness of the ground cable connection to the engine block. A weak battery or poor ground connection can produce symptoms similar to a faulty starter, such as slow or no engine cranking, and replacing the starter would not solve the problem in such a case.

KEY FEATURES

  • Type: electric starter
  • Voltage: 12 V
  • Output: 2.0 kW
  • Pinion: 11 teeth
  • Solenoid (electromagnetic relay) mounted on the starter body
  • Compatibility: HDE 15000EA3, HDE 15000SA3, HDE 18000SA3

USE / INSTALLATION / OPERATION

  1. Switch off the generator and disconnect the battery cable so that the circuit is de-energised.
  2. Disconnect the power cable and control wire from the old starter solenoid.
  3. Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the old starter from the engine.
  4. Install the new starter in the same position and check that the pinion engages freely with the flywheel ring gear.
  5. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
  6. Connect the power cable and control wire to the solenoid, then reconnect the battery.
  7. Test the starter with a brief activation and check that the engine cranks freely and evenly.

Always carry out work on the electrical system with the battery disconnected. A short circuit on the starter power cable can cause sparks and fire.
